I was just in bed, getting ready to fall asleep, when I came up with the idea of what my blog is going to be about--finding the extraordinary in the ordinary. This is partly inspired by my English class, but partly inspired by the fact that I am tired of sadness. It really hit me tonight as I was driving to mass. I looked up at the sky filled with purple, pink, and orange streaks, and it gave me chills. There is so much beauty in this world that we take for granted. We rush around with our cell phones in one hand and our iPods in the other, hardly taking time to appreciate the extraordinary moments, the moments that we can never get back once they are gone. So many people, myself included many times, don't even take the time to look at those around them. We are always so busy thinking about other things, other people, etc., that we miss what is right in front of our eyes.
I am challenging myself to take the time to slow down and appreciate at least one beautiful moment every day. If all goes according to plan, I will take a picture and post it along with its story, and hopefully, I can spread a little bit of happiness to people throughout my day, and also to the readers (if I have readers eventually). I already know what my beautiful moment for tomorrow is--pulling that Starbucks Frappuccino out of the fridge before my 8 am class...ahh simple pleasures. Goodnight blog-world.
